For months my blog post schedule as been based on an index card taped to my desk next to my keyboard. (Really, it is attached using clear shelf liner like I talk about in this post about color coded calendar organizing) This simple reference was used every time I sat down to write, to keep some consistency to when basic topics were published. I found it cleared my mind for writing because I didn’t have to work too hard at calendar issues for the blog.
I kept track of specific article ideas on my google calendar, much like this this well-known social media strategist does. Even though I have been using google calendar for a few years, she had many good insights in that article.
I decided to tweak my writing and posting schedule a bit this month, so I made a new reference for my desk. I added color and little symbols because, again, it sends organizational messages to my mind without me having to work so hard to read it. You may not understand all the little codes and they may not emphasize what you think they do, but we could have a contest? 🙂
And even though my standard posting day for organizational ideas has been and will be Fridays, I am posting this today because I will be trying to take Mondays “off” from posting. Some sources say that posting every day can discourage readers. Other people say that the more the better. So, I’m compromising and rolling it back one day. I have many things I like to write about (as you may have noticed) and run out of daylight long before I run out of what to write.
The most major change to the schedule is that I moved the occasional Monday topic of the Stock Market Diaries to Thursday and am hoping to add more about my Chinese studies on that day. The other previously Monday topics are mostly scheduled for Wednesdays now.
I write to share and communicate, hoping that you are all inspired and encouraged by it all. Please, let me know if you have any thoughts on the changes. It is obviously not written in stone. 😉
