Perfect Homemade Chocolate Milk from Scratch

July 8, 2015 by Laura Blodgett Leave a Comment

chocolate milk

I have often looked longingly at the gallons of chocolate milk in the grocery store, but I have never purchased it. Partly, I was sure it would be too sweet. I have always been disappointed in the syrupy taste of chocolate milk made at home from syrup, or the fake chocolate taste in bottles I’ve tried (from major and minor brands) after race events. But I knew it SHOULD be good. After all, it involves chocolate.

Still, I thought it had to be “commercially” made, since getting the chocolate to dissolve is an issue, even in hot cocoa sometimes. It turns out it is one of the simplest things in the world to make from scratch. I found this website to help me learn how, then put my own twist on it for both ease of preparation and serving, as well as taste, as seen in the video below. Now, we almost always have some in the refrigerator. It makes a great quick snack that is pretty healthy!
