Cori Lou Where Are You in the NICU Dealing with a Ventricular Septal Defect

October 10, 2013 by Laura Blodgett Leave a Comment

There are complications with the ventricular septal defect (VSD) sooner than expected. (Heidi and Rich were told about it the day she was born) Cori Lou’s respiratory rate (breathing) and heart rate are fairly high. The good news is that she is so far maintaining a high level of oxygen in her blood she is […]

Aunt Betharoni

Cori Lou would like to eat, but then again, she wouldn’t. That is to say, she shows all kinds of rooting and sucking behavior, but so far has only intermittently been able to tolerate 10 ml of her mommy’s milk every 3 hours. What they do is check her stomach contents right before the […]

October 2, 2013 by Laura Blodgett Leave a Comment

Right now she has a puffy face. Hopefully, soon those kinds of rolls will be due to normal baby chub.

Cori Lou is making everyone happy. She never needed additional oxygen and has already been making an effort to initiate breaths on her own. The morphine is being “stretched” (less in her system over time) to make it more possible for her to do this more. (Morphine inhibits respirations) They are working on weaning her off […]
